| Loans - Lofty ambitions with lofts
Loft conversions can add around 100,000 to a home's value, according to Alliance & Leicester Personal Loans. Indeed, research carried out across England and Wales reveals how homeowners who add a dormer loft conversion to their house are likely to be in a win-win situation. It's cheaper than buying a bigger house, they can see the value of the property go through the roof and they could make significant savings compared to a further advance on a mortgage or a personal loan from the Big Four. Although there are regional price differences, the UK average cost of a dormer loft conversion is around 23,000 and can add 100,000 to the house's value. In London, dormer loft conversions to a three-bedroom home cost around 25,000, but could return a whopping potential profit of nearly 146,000 if the homeowner went on to sell their property.
Brown Delivers A Budget For The Rich Which Penalises The Poor
Gordon Brown's last budget as chancellor of the exchequer ended his time at the treasury as he began it—robbing the poor and gutting the social services on which millions rely in order to benefit the rich. Council faces bistro's mounting debt
The Pinole City Council, sitting as the Redevelopment Agency board, will meet in special closed session Monday to discuss the Pear Street Bistro, which is in default on city loans with a balance of more than $400,000. Mayor Maria Alegria and the rest of the council have come under fire from residents during the past few months to resolve the loan situation. As of March, Bistro owner Gary Wong had not made payments for almost a year-and-a-half on a package of Pinole Redevelopment Agency loans that originally totaled more than a half-million dollars. Some residents accuse the council of going easy on Wong, who claims three of the five council members as his friends. As of mid-March, the city had not reported Wong's "default" to any credit agencies, according to City Attorney Ben Reyes.
